I began this week by making a final floor plan for the set-up of my event, so it will run smoother and also because I have a rehearsal right before my event, so I need to be ready and prepared to ensure that everything goes well. I decided to add a game where people are able to use a remote controlled robot to get around cones and other objects and if they easily get around it without going off of the track that will be taped so it is obvious, they will be given a small prize, which I got from the dollar store. I just got some bags of candy and toys, so people can enjoy a small token. I also decided to add an online artificial intelligence that will be done through my laptop- I will have someone posted at each station to watch the items and ensure they’re taken care of.
I also talked to my consultant about the surveys I will be giving out and he had the idea to make it online and pass out business cards with the link, so I created that and will be printing the business cards. I will also print a few of the surveys in case people would prefer to fill it out that way, but this eliminated the fear that I will have way too many surveys or that I will have not enough. This creates two ways in which people can fill out the survey and also minimizes the amount of trees I have to kill, which is definitely a nice plus to the online survey.
The last thing that I got done this week was testing many of the things I have planned. I tested the inflatable robot that people can view, as well as tested the remote control robot and the size of the track that will be used to ensure that there is a good amount of space for people to use, so the game is fair. I also tested the artificially intelligent robot to see exactly what I want to do for the demonstration I will be giving with it. I also thought about and wrote down some of the speech I will be giving. I will be giving this at the beginning of my event by the center table, as planned in my floor plan, so I will have a tri-fold with visuals to show people as the speech is occurring.
