Well, my project was yesterday and it went pretty well. There was only one small hitch which I will discuss later. So, I got there early and set-up and someone I invited from the Landstown Technology Academy came and we had a discussion about artificial intelligence, which was really great. Then, people started arriving and played games and filled out the worksheets I had. Everyone looked like they were having a good time and learned things, which I was really happy about. There was great conversation and people seemed like they really wanted to understand artificial intelligence, especially when it came to the BB-8 I had. Also, my tri-fold about whether a robot was good or bad seemed to be the hot bed of conversation because everyone was actually discussing how they felt about it. My consultant and I talked about the event and he agreed that everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and really be learning. I need to write a thank you note to him, as well as the Landstown Academy guy for coming to my event.
One huge frustration I had was the basketball team that was there. First, when it was getting close to my time for people to show up, they came in and began playing basketball around my sensitive (and expensive) technology. They continued to play even after people started to arrive, but finally left to the small gym. I had a building use form filled out so I was a little perplexed as to why they were there. Then, when people were there, some of the team members came in and asked when I would be done, which they had been told multiple time I had the gym until 8:30. Around 7:50/8:00, the team just came into the gym and started playing basketball all around me, which made me really nervous because a ball could have destroyed my laptop, my robots (one of which was not mine), or anything else I had. When I asked them to stop shooting, they did only for a second and then began again. I asked the coach to get them to stop, but they would not so I had to leave 30 minutes early. This was honestly extremely rude, especially since I have been on the calendar for over a month and they were not and I had a building use form. While I did have enough people (almost 40), I was still upset that that would happen and I hope no one arrived after we left, since I cleaned up 30 minutes before I expected to leave. Other than that, everything went well, but honestly that just really bothered me.
